What is kindergarten readiness testing?
Are you looking for more information to decide if your child is ready for kindergarten? Making the decision to let your child have more time or be challenged is a difficult one to make without having all the information possible. Testing can help provide you with the information you need to determine if your young 5 year old needs more time or if your bright 4 year old who barely misses the age cutoff would benefit from being challenged in a private school setting.
Testing includes a comprehensive cognitive measure (IQ test), screening of pre-academic and academic knowledge, and assessments of behavior, emotional and adaptive functioning.
Testing appointments are scheduled in the morning, and then our provider will meet with you after a break to review the results and answer your questions. A brief written evaluation will be provided 2 weeks after the appointment for your records and/or to share with the school of your choice.
What else should i know?
Kindergarten readiness testing is not covered by insurance, as it is not a medically necessary evaluation and no diagnosis will be provided.
Starting kindergarten is an exciting time, for you and your child. Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey.
What are the benefits of Kindergarten readiness testing?
Not all children need to participate in kindergarten readiness testing. However, if you have questions about your child’s emotional or academic ability to transition to kindergarten, then this type of evaluation can be another important piece of the puzzle in making the decision that is best for your child and family.
